Yesterday, I got home and was really excited to watch another newly released episode of Scarlet Heart… only too late to realize that I will be watching the final episode (usually I try to prepare myself). I had been too busy to keep count of the episodes, thinking that perhaps the set number of episodes is 24.. a grievous error on my part.
The resolution was quite reasonable, and summoned a few (several, really, if I’m to be completely honest) here and there. IU’s return to the modern era was quite predictable, though not the part when she actually remembers the past and that even then a modern Lee Joon Gi a.k.a. Prince Wang So a.k.a. King Gwangjong did not make an appearance. Theirs is truly a heartrending romance and I just wish that the ending wasn’t quite so sad. I know everyone will be waiting for a sequel, a rarity in the K-drama world as you and I know too well, especially after that last scene of Lee Joon Gi’s intense look when he declared that he will find Hae Soo wherever world she’s in.
It will be quite a turn if a sequel is made and set in the modern era.. it’s been a while since I’ve seen Lee Joon Gi in a modern setting (since Hero where I discovered Ji Chang Wook, and not to neglect where I first laid eyes on him and my heart bled for my first true second male lead in My Girl).
And this post is not going to end without mention of IU’s unbelievable chemistry with every single one of the princes, not to mention, her enviable chemistry with Lee Joon Gi (even IRL, remember her birthday present from him this year?) Their story was set in a way that my mind was somehow fooled into feeling that Lee Joon Gi is the second male lead so I ended up rooting for him (I always end up doing that!)
I want to talk about so many other things, but unfortunately, my time as well as your attention, is short.. so I’ll sign off here.
And now… let’s just all wait and long for hard enough for that anticipated sequel!!!
