I love you, Goblin.

As expected from all the built-up anticipation and the overwhelming positive reaction from Gong Yoo’s fans, Goblin does not disappoint.

At first, I was a little doubtful about Kim Go Eun’s role, but she wiped all those doubts away from the moment she came on screen. It also doesn’t hurt that the girl who played the younger version of her character was lovable. And straight, black hair suits her much better than the curly, flame orange hair she sported in Cheese in the Trap. A fan favorite scene from Goblin‘s first episode would, of course, be the moment when Kim Go Eun come to a conclusion to want to marry the Goblin, and professes desire with the appropriate 3 words: I love you – all complete with a wide, close-eyed, goofy, and adorably childish smile Kim Go Eun is known to pull so effortlessly.

So far, I’m loving all the characters. It’s a nice surprise to see School 2015‘s second male lead again as Gong Yoo’s rude and overbearing “nephew.”

There’s bromance brooding and much to look forward to between the Goblin and the Grim Reaper. I’ve got to say that this is my favorite Lee Dong Wook’s character yet – it fits him to a T – dark and mysterious and sarcastic. He has such dark facial expressions that there’s no role to fit him so well as Death itself.
